FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • What is HDTV?
HD (High Definition) television provides a view of a picture that is up to twice the color resolution and up to six times the sharpness of standard television.
  • What do I need to be able to receive HD television?
    1)
You must have an HD capable television.
    2) An HD converter from Vision may be needed.
Vision will be offering local stations’ HD broadcasts free in the future. Your television will have to have a built in tuner in order to view these channels or you will have to lease an HD converter from Vision.
    a. If you are only interested in the local channels on the HD Lifeline package and your TV has a tuner, no converter is needed. If your TV does not have a tuner, a converter will be needed to receive any other, non-local channels included with the HD Lifeline package.
    b. If you want to subscribe to our HD Basic package or our premium HD channels, you will need a converter whether or not your TV has a tuner.
  • What is the cost of HD?
The HD Basic package is regularly $9.99 per month and currently includes 5 HD channels: Universal HD, Discovery HD, HDNet, HDMovies and ESPN HD. Converter rentals are extra.
  • What is the cost of the converter?
There are 2 types of converters available for lease from Vision. A basic HD converter is regularly $9.99 per month and includes HD channel capability, an interactive guide that allows you to set favorite channels, the picture in picture feature and DMX music channels.
An HD/DVR converter is regularly $14.99 per month. This converter gives you the same features as an HD converter with the additional capability of a digital video recorder (DVR). A DVR allows you to record programs while watching others, pause or replay a live program, rewind or fast forward recorded programs, and more.
  • Do I need an HD capable television with a tuner?
If your HD capable television has a built in tuner, you will be able to receive the local HD channels that Vision broadcasts at no charge. If you want TNT HD and/or channels within our HD Basic line-up, then you will have to lease a converter.
  • What type of connectors do I need?
Vision supplies component cables for video and audio if the customer has an HD television. If you prefer to have a different type of connector, the customer is responsible to purchase these prior to delivery of the converter. Vision’s DVR converters have HMDI or DVI compatability.
  • Can I get a DVR if I do not have an HD television?
Yes. The features of a DVR will work on any television. You just will not receive the HD channels if you do not have the HD capable television.
